Aperio Global is seeking an experienced Senior Scrum Master to join our dynamic team in Washington, DC. This position is hybrid requiring 2 days in the office. In this role, you will play a critical part in ensuring the success of our agile development projects. As a Senior Scrum Master, you will be responsible for driving the proper implementation of Agile methodologies, facilitating scrum processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality results. Responsibilities:

  • Ensure JIRA is being utilized correctly to plan, track, and manage the agile development project.
  • Ensure the correct use of Scrum processes to optimize project efficiency.
  • Conduct agile training sessions for clients and new Scrum team members as needed.
  • Facilitate daily scrum meetings and send out minutes to the team within 2 hours of concluding the meeting.
  • Schedule, facilitate, and participate in sprint planning, sprint demos, and retrospective meetings.
  • Update Confluence with outcomes and action items from sprint planning, sprint demos, and retrospective meetings.
  • Prepare the agenda for the weekly IPT (Integrated Product Team) meeting by the previous Thursday.
  • Update JIRA tickets with the outcomes of pre-IPT and IPT meetings, capturing decisions and comments.
  • Facilitate estimations and planning sessions to forecast the number of deliverables possible in an iteration.
  • Determine the capacity of the team and ensure consistency across sprints.
  • Provide updates for weekly status reports.
  • Produce monthly JIRA reports to include in monthly status reports.
  • Collaborate with the client/product owner to groom and maintain the product backlog.
  • Create a sprint planning roadmap and prepare a list of tickets and bugs for the upcoming sprint before the current sprint ends, ensuring they have proper descriptions, steps to reproduce, and acceptance criteria.
  • Assist the team in clarifying goals and actions to achieve them.
  • Help subject matter experts (SMEs) understand requirements and create JIRA tickets.
  • Generate the Requirements Traceability Matrix after client approval of the backlog and again at the end of the sprint, showing actuals.
  • Define the "Definition of Done" and ensure it is being followed and oversee test case management and defect tracking.
  • Produce Release Notes for each sprint.
  • Review test cases and provide refinements to the tester.
  • Learn the application and assist with testing.
  • Ensure user stories and acceptance criteria are clear and adhere to Agile practices.
  • Ensure that JIRA tickets are complete in terms of description, steps to reproduce, acceptance criteria, and that they are in the correct status with the correct priority assigned.
  • Lead release planning sessions with the client, product owner, and Scrum team.
  • Foster effective, open, honest, and respectful communication among the team.
  • Facilitate discussions, decision-making, and conflict resolution.
  • Identify and remove impediments for the Scrum team.
  • Assist the project manager with deliverables.
  • Attend and actively engage in client meetings, ensuring preparedness for the meetings and confirming the agenda with the Project Manager well in advance.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and produce quality work that doesn't require corrections or intervention by others.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience with Scaled Agile Framework (SaFE).
  • 7+ years of experience in writing user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • 7+ years of experience with Agile development, DevOps, continuous integration, and continuous testing.
  • 7+ years of experience with test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD).
  • 7+ years of experience as a Scrum Master, leading a team practicing Scrum theories and practices.
  • Relevant certifications in Agile, including Scrum Master and SaFE.
  • 5+ years of experience with JIRA and JIRA reports.
  • 5+ years of experience in writing technical documentation.
  • Knowledge of Confluence is a plus.
  • Knowledge of radio transmitters
