About the role
The primary roles of the Clinical Coordinator Include:
- Developing and maintaining clinical sites and affiliation agreements for Med Tech students (SGT / SPT). Ensuring new sites are visited and documented with the pre-site use form as is required by ACCSC.
- Prepare students for the extern experiences for Med Tech through scheduling orientation, managing the process to assign students extern sites two weeks before externs begin and ensuring students begin extern on time
- Manage students on externship to ensure attendance on site for the required hours each week in order to complete the externship within the 12-week period (SGT), and 6-week period (SPT). Provide graduation paperwork upon mods end in order that students graduate on time.
- Ensure students are scheduled to test for the certification exam in the last week of externship for the respective program (SGT/SPT)
- Visiting each student on sites in order to provide site evaluations as is required by ACCSC.
- The Clinical Coordinator is responsible to ensure that student files contain the current, required documentation related to the clinical experience.
- The Clinical Coordinator is to create a schedule for each mod for all students requiring clinical rotations, working collaboratively with the Program Directors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Specific duties include, but are not limited to the following:
- With support from the SGT and SPT Program Directors, renew and create new clinical affiliation agreements and relationships;
- Assure that all clinical contracts are complete, in the approved legal format, up-to-date, and appropriately filed. This includes periodic review of expiration dates, placing contract copies on the designated server, maintaining the “master list” of clinical agreements (using a format such as Google Drive or Excel), and maintaining the “binder” containing printed copies at the campus;
- Perform regular site visits to existing clinical sites and identify opportunities and take appropriate action to enhance the efficiency and quality of the clinical relationships;
- Collaborates with clinical partners to schedule clinical rotations for each mod, and to maintain current relationships for future clinical opportunities
- At the direction of the Dean, perform regular audits to ensure compliance with policies and accreditation standards relating to required clinical documentation for student and program files;
- Maintain positive relationships with existing clinical partners, serving as the lead in relaying concerns or suggestions from the clinical sites to the Program Directors for the respective programs, SGT and SPT;
- Collaborate with clinical partners to develop the clinical schedules, assure reporting accuracies, and distribute schedules to students in a timely manner.
- Finalize site assignments at least two weeks in advance of the extern start;
- Appropriately address scheduling issues related to students during clinical rotations;
