Pratt & Whitney’s North Berwick Engineering Center, situated in picturesque Southern Maine, is actively seeking a skilled and driven Senior Design Engineer. This role involves close collaboration with our production team to ensure design solutions align with process capabilities. The position is specifically focused on providing engineering support to manufacturing operations at the North Berwick facility.

What You Will Do:

  • Work closely with North Berwick operations to ensure producible part designs and timely disposition of non-conforming material; and Work closely with North Berwick raw material suppliers to ensure producible part designs and timely disposition of non-conforming material. 
  • Lead Green Belt/Black Belt/Red-X Specialties projects to identify production challenges and proposed solutions.
  • Process engineering changes to improve part producibility, reduce cost, or improve hardware throughput.
  • Assist in clearing Work-Stoppages/Escapes.
  • Ensure compliance with Pratt and Whitney's engineering process called the Engineering Knowledge System.
  • Travel up to 10% (domestic).

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related Engineering degree and 5 years of engineering experience with gas turbine components, in operations, or quality, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 3 years of engineering experience with gas turbine components, in operations, or quality.
  • U.S. Citizen - U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering or MBA.
  • Experience in several engineering disciplines (Design, Project Management, Analysis).
  • Project management skills, including resource planning, EVMS, critical path schedule development, and risk management; and experience leading teams in the successful execution of tasks to meet technical, schedule, and budget requirements.
  • Capability to work and lead in collaboration with other non-collocated teams.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement principles.

  • The North Berwick Engineering Center (NBEC) organization is responsible for engineering activities for hardware throughout the gas turbine including the Fan, Low Pressure Compressor (LPC), High Pressure Compressor (HPC), Combustor, Low Pressure Turbine, High Pressure turbine and Mechanical System modules across all Pratt & Whitney's military and commercial products. NBEC is co-located with Pratt & Whitney’s largest manufacturing facility.  This specific opportunity is to join our Hot Section component designers Team.
