Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections is seeking a candidate for an Office Associate position in the Mailroom at Pinckneyville Correctional Center. The ideal candidate will assist in processing all institutional and individual in custody incoming and outgoing mail, correspondence, scanning all mail for security issues and relays important information regarding security issues to Internal Affairs. This position also composes and keyboards complex documents, forms, memoranda, and letters regarding individual in custody mail.  We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.

Essential Functions

• Processes all institutional and individual in custody incoming and outgoing mail, employing judgment in applying governing policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Processes daily mail.
• Processes correspondence.
• Scans all mail for security issues and relays important information regarding security issues to Internal Affairs.
• Composes and keyboards complex documents, forms, memoranda, and letters regarding individual in custody mail.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
• Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per min
