Overview

The Center of Molecular Oncology and Cellular Therapeutics (MOCT) at Children’s Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) is looking to recruit a new researcher to enhance our existing strengths and/or broaden the CMRI’s capacity to fulfil our mission to improve the health and wellness of children and their families locally, nationally and internationally. We invite applications for a junior faculty position to expand our current laboratory-based research programs and collaborate with faculty members in the Division of Clinical Hematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant (CHOT) at the Department of Pediatrics, to develop new diagnostic and treatment options for pediatric and young adult hematology and oncology patients.

 

We seek qualified individuals with expertise in basic and translational cancer research. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of academic achievement evidenced by high-impact peer-reviewed publications and a potential to build a nationally recognized research program in pediatric oncology and/or hematology. The individual selected for this position shall hold a PhD, MD/PhD or MD credential and has at least three years of post-doctoral experience.

 

Successful candidates will be expected to work collaboratively with faculty across Children's Mercy and national/international partner institutions. We have mature collaborations with more than 50 hospitals and academic institutions worldwide, and strong ties with regional partners such as the University of Kansas, University of Kansas Medical Center, University of Missouri-Kansas City, and Stower’s Research Institute, which provide a rich research environment and support for continued professional development.

 

Children's Mercy serves as the Department of Pediatrics for both the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of Missouri-Kansas City Schools of Medicine and Children’s Mercy faculty hold appointments at one or both. Children’s Mercy is a core member of the National Cancer Institute-designated University of Kansas Cancer Center and of Frontiers: The Heartland Institute for Clinical and Translational Research, supported by a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) from the National Institutes of Health.
