About the role

Summary

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of grant management, operational processes, and administrative functions of the Black Maternal Health Center of Excellence.

The Senior Program Manager is expected to manage partnerships with diverse community stakeholders for the design, launch, implementation, and sustainability of the maternal health center and full spectrum programmatic supports that are Black-centered and community-based.  

The employment status of this position is classified as “Conditional”. Conditional employment means that the job exists contingent upon funding limitations of restricted funds or, the duration of a specific program, project, grant or contract. The duration of grant for this position is through September 29, 2024.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Grant Management:
    • Identify, pursue, and assist the Director with securing grant opportunities relevant to Black maternal health initiatives.
    • Implements a fundraising and development strategy to identify potential donors or funding sources and conduct outreach initiatives.
    • Assist in the development of grant applications or proposals.
    • Manage the entire grant lifecycle, including application, reporting, compliance, resource allocation, and budgets.
  • Programs Implementation and Oversight
    • Designs and implements programs that support CDU and BMHCE mission, vision, and goals. Monitor program activities, track progress, and report on key performance indicators and outcomes.
    •  Manage efforts to explore and improve maternal and reproductive health supports for the BMHCE community.  
    • Utilizes client relationship management (CRM) or another system to organize information and facilitate outreach communications, perform forecasting, and measure the performance of programs.
  • Financial Management and Budgeting
    • Develop and manage budgets for programs and projects, ensuring responsible resource allocation.
    • Monitor expenditures, track financial performance, and provide regular reports to leadership.
  • Operations and Administration
    • Monitors operational processes, including administrative tasks, logistics, and grant outcomes for quality, efficiency, and effectiveness.
    • Streamline operational processes to maximize efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Ensures program objectives are met and compliance with institutional policies and procedures.
    • Manages staff in day-to-day performance of their jobs.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, philanthropic organizations, community partners and organizations, and healthcare providers.
    • Represent the center at conferences, meetings, and events, promoting awareness and collaboration.
    • Collaborates with partners to ensure that special events publicize the organization and its programs to the community and support its goals.

EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in public health, health administration, or related field or equivalent experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5+ years of experience in program management, grants administration, or related roles.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience.
  •  Experience working with pregnant and/or parenting individuals of color, or experience working in programs that serve that population.  
  • Experience leading multi-stakeholder efforts to improve birth outcomes. 
  • Established relationships with key maternal and child health stakeholders and ability to connect CDU to the broader field of related research and advocacy in Los Angeles County and CA.  
  •  Experience with qualitative research and literature reviews; ability to synthesize complex information into clear written communications.  
  • Familiar with community events and community outreach standard procedures
  •  Experience working as a liaison with diverse stakeholders; ability to establish relationships easily; highly effective listener and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners. 

SKILLS:

  • Strong knowledge of maternal health issues, particularly as they pertain to BIPOC communities.
  • Demonstrated success in managing grants and funding sources.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting and financial oversight.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skil
