Engineering Manager, Data Ingestion Infrastructure

Zoox is on a mission to reimagine transportation and ground-up build autonomous robotaxis that are safe, reliable, clean, and enjoyable for everyone. The Ingestion Infrastructure team, as a part of Data Infrastructure, is building up a highly scalable and reliable multi-region platform for ingesting, storing, and managing robotaxi data to empower Zoox’s fast growth.
The team plays a vital role at Zoox, managing the vehicle data and telemetry pipeline that ingests both low-latency and bulk data from vehicles into AWS S3. This pipeline is central to development workflows across all Software and ML use cases. Additionally, the team develops and maintains data storage systems capable of handling hundreds of petabytes of data on S3, supporting diverse applications such as Simulations and analytics.
As the Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of talented software engineers, driving the scalability and efficiency needed for Zoox to achieve our future milestones.

In this role, you will:

• Develop and execute a strategic vision for scalable data ingestion and storage to unlock AI and analytics innovation
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, data engineers, ML researchers, hardware engineers, and TPMs, to understand the requirements and align on technical decisions.
• Lead the prioritization and operation of team initiatives
• Manage and coach 5+ engineers to grow their careers and empower their success at Zoox

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of industry experience in software engineering, including 2+ years of team management experience
• Strong background in big data platforms and petabyte-scale, multi-region storage systems on the cloud
• Experience with AWS services, especially S3 and RDS
• Strong leadership skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing engineering teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field)

Bonus Qualifications:

• Proficiency in Python, C++, or Go

CompensationThere are three major components to compensation for this position: salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this position is $210,000 to $303,000. A sign-on bonus may be offered as part of the compensation package. Compensation will vary based on geographic location and level. Leveling, as well as positioning within a level, is determined by a range of factors, including, but not limited to, a candidate's relevant years of experience, domain knowledge, and interview performance.
