You'll receive guidance from colleagues and leaders as you develop your skills and understanding of the business. <br/><br/>As a Sr Build &amp; Release Engineer in our Platform Engineering team, you’ll contribute to a suite of backend services and developer-facing tools that support everything from CI/CD orchestration and artifact promotion to developer experience APIs and delivery metrics. This platform integrates with key systems such as GitHub, Backstage, Artifactory, and Kubernetes, and underpins our standardized CI/CD blueprint.<br/><br/>This is an opportunity to influence the shape of internal platform capabilities that enable thousands of developers to ship secure, reliable software with confidence.<p></p><p></p><p></p><h1><span><b>Job Description</b></span></h1><p><b>Key Responsibilities</b></p><ul><li>Design and implement scalable backend services and APIs (primarily in <b>Python</b> and/or <b>Go</b>) that power the development platform</li><li>Build event-driven integrations and workflows across systems such as GitHub, Artifactory, Kubernetes, and internal tooling</li><li>Contribute to features such as artifact promotion APIs, SDLC metrics pipelines, and CI/CD standardization tooling</li><li>Collaborate with infrastructure and DevOps teams to ensure smooth integration with GitHub Actions, Helm, ArgoCD, and cloud-native platforms</li><li>Help integrate the development platform with <b>Backstage</b>, supporting unified service metadata, software catalog integration, and lifecycle automation</li><li>Develop automation and tooling that enhances developer productivity and observability across the SDLC</li><li>Write technical documentation, contribute to internal standards, and participate in design and architecture reviews</li><li>Work closely with platform users, product teams, and engineering leadership to gather feedback and iterate on platform capabilities</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Desired <span>Characteristics/Technical</span> Expertise:</b></p><ul><li>Experience in backend engineering with <b>Python</b> and/or <b>Go</b></li><li>Good knowledge of software design principles, architecture patterns, and secure development practices</li><li>Hands-on experience building and consuming <b>RESTful APIs</b></li><li>Experience with <b>SQL databases</b> such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle</li><li>Familiarity with <b>cloud-native technologies</b>, including:<ul><li>Kubernetes</li><li>Helm</li><li>Istio service mesh</li><li>ArgoCD or similar GitOps tools</li></ul></li><li>Experience working with <b>CI/CD systems</b> (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.) and <b>Infrastructure as Code</b> (Terraform, Ansible)</li><li>Understanding of software lifecycle management, including artifact promotion, dependency management, and release traceability</li><li>Desirable: familiarity with <b>AWS services</b> (EC2, EKS, RDS, Lambda etc.)</li><li>Desirable: experience with <b>Backstage</b>, <b>software catalogs</b>, or <b>internal developer portals (IDPs)</b></li><li>Desirable: exposure to <b>metrics, dashboards, or observability tooling</b> such as Grafana, Prometheus, or PowerBI</li></ul><p></p><p><b>Education Qualification</b></p><p>Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or “STEM” Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) with advanced experience.</p><p><br/><b>Business Acumen:</b></p><ul><li>Strong problem solving abilities and capable of articulating specific technical topics or assignments</li><li>Experience in building scalable and highly available distributed systems</li><li>Expert in breaking down problems and estimate time for development tasks</li><li>Evangelizes how our technology solves customer problems from a technology and business perspective</li></ul><p><br/><b>Leadership:</b></p><ul><li>Demonstrates clarity of thinking to work through limited information and vague problem definitions</li><li>Influences through others; builds direct and "behind the scenes" support for ideas</li><li>Proactively identifies and removes project obstacles or barriers on behalf of the team</li><li>Shares knowledge, power, and credit, establishing trust, credibility, and g
