WORKING TITLE: ACCOUNTING SERVICES ANALYST B

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in Finance and Accounting.

The mission of the Finance and Accounting Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to ensure the responsible management of the Department's financial resources.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

JOB DUTIES: 

  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with fiscal standards, including §215.422 F.S., HIPAA, and department procedures for timely and accurate payment of legal liabilities.
  • Entry Verification: Verify and process entries using systems like Ariba on Demand, FLAIR, PALM, BARS, CAIRS, and Axiom Pro.
  • Voucher Analysis: Analyze vouchers daily for accuracy and timely submission to the Department of Financial Services, acting as a liaison with the Mail Distribution and Invoice Preparation section.
  • Data Reporting: Export, prepare, and distribute data reports, including daily IR reports, weekly desk audits, and High-Profile Logs.
  • Accounting Review: Review and analyze accounting records, including contract balances, allotments, encumbrances, and payables.
  • Invoice Auditing: Audit invoices for certification and authorization, identifying inaccuracies and ensuring timely input of adjusting entries.
  • High-Profile Payments: Process high-profile invoices, such as Cardinal and Bond payments, and provide accounting support to staff, vendors, and auditors.
  • Training and Support: Train new staff, maintain required training hours, assist with year-end closing activities, and act as a liaison for voucher issues and duplicate warrant requests.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must be permitted to have access to Department Institutions and FLAIR.
  • Must possess at least two (2) years of state of Florida accounts payable experience.
  • Must possess at least three (3) years of experience in accounting, finance, or administration.
    • Postsecondary education may substitute for up to three (3) years of the required experience.
