JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The University Police and Public Safety (UPPS) at the Harrisburg campus is hiring Student Auxiliary Officers (AOs). AOs are uniformed student employees who assist with security, traffic control, and safety escorts on campus. They support the University Police at various events, including sporting events and group activities. AOs also provide security in and around residence hall areas and the Safe Walk service.

Job Duties:

  • Provide security details for events.
  • Conduct safety escorts.
  • Perform other similar duties in a department-issued uniform.
  • Provide security presence around campus, serving to support police officers.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time Penn State student during the regular academic year.
  • Able to work varied hours, including day, afternoon, evening, and weekend shifts.
  • Required to work during mandatory periods such as student arrival, graduation, and other significant events.
  • Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Must pass a standard background check.
  • Employment may involve operating a motor vehicle; a valid US driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check are required to operate the vehicles, however not required for employment.
