About the role:

This role establishes, implements, and oversees Gartner’s comprehensive governance framework for data, analytics, reporting, and model management. The position leverages governance best practices to establish standards for data integrity, quality, reporting consistency, and effective model risk management, ensuring alignment with our 2025 objectives and business needs. This role supports Gartner’s ability to make data-driven decisions while mitigating risk and meeting compliance standards by developing and enforcing governance policies and collaborating with stakeholders.


What you’ll do: 

  • Governance Strategy & Policy Development:
    • Formulate and enforce a unified governance strategy that integrates data, analytics, reporting, and model management aligned with Gartner’s objectives.
    • Develop policies, standards, and best practices to establish a consistent, scalable governance framework.
    • Operationalize data governance standards and processes to bring governance and standards to life, ensuring they are actionable and integrated into daily operations.

  • Data Quality & Integrity Management:
    • Define data quality standards and benchmarks to guide the organization to achieve higher data accuracy, reliability, and consistency.
    • Define key quality metrics, perform data audits, and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with data management teams.
       
  • Analytics, Reporting, and Model Governance:
    • Implement comprehensive governance standards for analytics, reporting, and model management to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance across Gartner’s data-driven initiatives.
    • Oversee the validation and monitoring of analytics methodologies, reporting processes, and model performance to ensure transparency, ethical use, and risk mitigation.
       
  • Metadata & Data Lineage Management:
    • Drive and facilitate metadata and taxonomy management, including glossary terms, policies, and standards, while promoting data literacy to ensure clarity and understanding across data, analytics, and model assets.
    • Establish metadata standards to maintain a single source of truth, facilitating transparency and accessibility for all stakeholders.
       
  • Compliance & Risk Assessment:
    • Ensure governance practices comply with regulatory and internal standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and model risk regulations.
    • Conduct routine risk assessments and audits, addressing gaps and implementing corrective actions to safeguard Gartner’s data and analytics assets.
       
  • Stakeholder Collaboration & Engagement:
    • Drive collaboration and engagement across departments to align governance practices with Gartner’s strategic goals and operational requirements.
    • Lead and facilitate data governance forums, including the Data Governance Council and Steering Committees, to engage stakeholders in aligning on governance objectives. Additionally, support business-led data engagement forums to promote collaboration, prioritize initiatives, and address operational data needs effectively.
       
  • Maturity Model Development & Voice of Data:
    • Develop and implement a data governance maturity model, establishing an initial baseline with minimal friction and progressively advancing according to a structured roadmap.
    • Continuously assess and refine the maturity model to ensure alignment with evolving business needs and technological advancements.
    • Develop and implement future "Voice of Data" initiatives to continuously assess and enhance the perception of Gartner's data


What you’ll need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in data governance, analytics governance, model risk management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing governance programs across data, analytics, reporting, and model management, with expertise in risk management.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels.
