Job Summary

The Underwriting Case Manager is responsible for providing administrative support to underwriters and management alike in an effort to efficiently facilitate the underwriting process.

              

Primary Responsibilities

  • Enters data from paper insurance policy applications into new business application database (presently, Sapiens ApplicationPro, SAP) and coordinates with agent to request any missing information from potential policyowner 
  • Manually orders all underwriting requirements including Attending Physician Statements (APS), Paramed Exams, Inspection Reports, supplemental forms and other medical requirements as requested by the Underwriter (UW), if not automatically ordered through SUP
  • Conducts regular follow-up with agents and vendors via phone/email on all outstanding underwriting administrative requirements to prepare case for policy underwriting
  • Works with underwriters to organize and prioritize workload to ensure cases are processed, issued and placed timely while maintaining frequent communication with the agent and underwriter
  • Reviews issued policies for accuracy before mailing to agent
  • Connects with agents on policy delivery requirements, including application amendments, health statements, insurance premium, etc. to ensure the policy is placed within the specified timeframe
  • Demonstrates a solid and consistent technical proficiency of underwriting guidelines to ensure cases are closed in a timely and efficient manner
  • Maintains an in-depth technical knowledge of workflow underwriting processes in order to help agents/brokers process business in the most efficient manner
  • Upholds confidentiality standards
  • Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to, involvement in specific projects 


Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum education requirement: high school diploma
  • Highly motivated and organized
  • Ability to follow and implement multi-step instructions and procedures
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player with a diverse group of people
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Adequate keyboarding skills – minimum 40 wpm
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with a document management system a plus
