The Chief of Staff should have experience in developing executive-ready presentations and telling a compelling story through data.

Team Description

The Bank Tech Payments team is responsible for designing and delivering seamless, secure and intelligent money movement capabilities and experiences - and the cloud native platforms that power them- for Capital One and beyond. This role will provide support to the Managing Vice President of the Payments organization, which comprises over 470 employees.

Role Expectations

This Director, Chief of Staff is a connector across the Bank Tech Payments organization, operating as a strategic partner for the Managing Vice President and the Senior Leadership team. A successful candidate is great at balancing the big picture, strategic-thinking while tackling the tactical execution and recognizing overlaps in plans, processes, people, and many other facets of a functioning organization. The role will be accountable for building cohesion and continuity across the Bank Tech Payments organization, towers and leaders. They must exhibit curiosity and leverage Large Language Model tools to bring efficiency to the role. 

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • In partnership with key stakeholders, lead the development and implementation of short and long term strategic programs for the organization

  • Deeply understand prioritization and delivery roadmap, helping to identify cross-tower dependencies to proactively manage impediments

  • Work to influence matrixed stakeholder teams to move the organization forward in a well-integrated manner

  • Lead the effort to drive organizational processes that enable success 

  • Partner with communications resources to enhance our organizational brand, highlighting the impact of our strategic initiatives

  • As new projects arise, work with leadership to determine feasibility, project and implementation plan

  • Champion unpopular ideas, even with more senior leaders

  • Able to get up to speed quickly on key topics and navigate the organization

  • Drive organizational change and operational excellence

  • Serve as a trusted advisor with stakeholders and leaders across the enterprise

  • Regularly use strong business judgment, influencing skills, leadership and integrity 

  • Inspire an organization of open-exchange and collaboration

  • Leverage strong facilitation, negotiation and mediation skills

  • Employ both meticulous organizational skills and follow-through

  • Work with little direction on complicated, sensitive assignments

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 7 years of experience in Project Management, Process Management, or Program Management 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy development

  • 5+ years of experience in budgeting and labor strategy

  • 6+ years of experience driving organizational change and operational excellence

  • 3+ years of experience partnering with engineering and product teams

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $226,000 - $257,900 for Director, Chief of Staff


 

New York, NY: $246,500 - $281,300 for Director, Chief of Staff
