Job Summary:
In this role, your duties will include the locating and designing supports for various piping systems and performing associated calculations. Candidate should be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3. Work closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required. Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Locating and designing support for various piping systems and performing associated calculations.
- Be familiar with common pipe support hardware, industry standards, and relevant codes such as AISC & ASME B31.3.
- Works closely with layout personnel and pipe stress engineers to deliver a quality and cost-effective design.
- Coordinates with other engineering disciplines and vendors as required.
- Prior experience should include working in a 3D model environment.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard plant design and piping engineering methods, techniques, procedures and criteria, using independent judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
- Examines and analyzes pipe configurations for ANSI/ASME code compliance.
- Participates in reviews and recommends approval of design drawings and data for compliance with requirements.
- Participates in studies that require knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in plant design and piping work.
- Develops and interprets design criteria and specifications for most complex plant design and piping infrastructure in a global business unit.
- Analyzes problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions.
- Analyzes and reports on the suitability of unconventional materials, techniques and/or difficult coordination requirements.
- Coordinates plant design engineering efforts in assigned areas with specialty groups, engineering disciplines, the client, vendor, contractors, construction and other functional groups.
- Prepares or assists with the preparation of assigned material requisitions and bid evaluations.
- Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved PD&P design standards to provide quality design, reliable/safe plant operation and construction economy. Ensures PD&P systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations, and standards.
- Participates in constructability reviews.
- Reviews PD&P design scope changes, as required, for project management.
- Endorses or prepares reports of work progress, as required, for project and discipline use.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12
