Hunton Andrews Kurth LLP, an international law firm, is actively recruiting a Business Practice Development Analyst in our Washington or Richmond office. This position supports the business development efforts of the Administrative Law Group. Works closely with the Senior Team Manager, Team leadership and Administrative Law team members (attorneys and staff), and other members of the Marketing and Client Development Team to develop and execute firm business development initiatives. Independently analyzes viability of potential business development activities and provides recommendations to management to advance the business objectives of the firm and our clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Conducts independent research on clients and prospective clients. Prepares competitive analysis and other research for use in identifying business opportunities and industry trends.
- Proactively identifies and recommends strategic business development opportunities for the firm, specifically the Administrative Law team and attorneys. Consults with attorneys to identify individual and practice group business objectives; recommends business development opportunities to achieve those objectives and drafts written business development plans as needed.
- Develops, drafts, and compiles client- and prospective client-related pitch materials, proposals, communications, and presentations for attorney review. Documents and maintains proposal-related information for future reference. Utilizes Foundation to track documents and experience, evaluate, and reports outcomes of business development activities.
- Manages project workflow including coordinating with other team members to ensure deadlines are met.
- Identifies, recommends, and directs development and production of other communications including client alerts and collateral materials in support of business development activities. Works closely with Marketing & Client Development teams and other departments across the firm to ensure quality communications.
- Develops and coordinates planning, budgeting and support of client relationship building events for the Administrative Law Team and related firm wide activities.
- Collaborates with the Senior Team Manager and Public Relations team to identify, create, recommend and execute on opportunities for attorneys and practices including speaking engagements and by-line articles. Works with Public Relations to draft press releases and coordinate related activities.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
QIALIFICATIONS
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of three years of analytical experience required. Preferably in a law firm, professional services, or other client relationship-based organization.
- Other Qualifications: Frequent travel may be required. Availability and willingness to work hours as needed to meet critical deadlines. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Strong commitment to client service excellence and teamwork. Must possess the highest standards of ethical conduct and professionalism. Must act as catalyst for change, drive and own results. Creative and innovative. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening) and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse group of professionals. Sound judgment and flexibility. Ability to work well under pressure, patience, diplomacy, high stress tolerance, excellent interpersonal communication skills, ability to prioritize workload and adapt to changing conditions. Visual acuity needed to process and read extensive written communications. Ability to receive and convey detailed information through oral communication. Essential competency processes include language ability, reasoning and memory. The expected salary range for Washington, DC based employees is $82,400 to $127,000, though salaries for employees based outside of Washington, DC may differ. Beyond an employment candidate's physical location, salary offers may be based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, training and/or experience.
