Metagenomi is a gene editing company committed to developing potentially curative therapeutics by leveraging a proprietary toolbox of next-generation gene editing systems to accurately edit DNA where current technologies cannot. Our metagenomics-powered discovery platform and analytical expertise reveal novel cellular machinery sourced from otherwise unknown organisms. Metagenomi Bioinformatics Summer Intern We're looking for a talented Bioinformatics Summer Intern passionate about developing solutions to next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis problems in the field of gene editing. You'll work closely with our team to enhance tools and methods that directly impact a wide range of preclinical programs and have the potential to influence Discovery research.

The Opportunity:

• Optimize current NGS data processing and analysis pipelines to help advance our unique gene editing systems.
• Explore the development of an AI tool or statistical method to accelerate our guide selection process.
• Collaborate with scientists across Preclinical and Discovery teams to drive meaningful advancements.

How You'll Contribute:

• Optimize existing NGS workflows and identify areas for algorithm improvements.
• Implement and test new bioinformatics tools or refine existing ones for enhanced data analysis.
• Prototype an AI solution or statistical method using our large in house NGS datasets.

Must-Haves:

• Education: Actively pursuing a degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics or a related field.
• Experience:
• Strong understanding of NGS data formats and analysis concepts.
• Proven scripting and data analysis skills (Python, R).
• Familiarity with biological databases (gnomAD, Ensembl) and analysis tools (vep).
• Experience with machine learning techniques.
• Knowledge of cloud computing platforms (AWS).

California Pay Transparency Disclosure:

Under the Federal Labor Standards Act, this position is classified as an [exempt salaried or non-exempt hourly] position.  The hourly rate range for 2024 Summer Internships is $25.00 to $35.00 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week.
