About the Role
AstraZeneca is driving a revolution in cancer care, aiming to develop cures for every type of cancer by following the science and unraveling cancer’s complexities. As Director, Global Oncology Policy & Advocacy (Lung Cancer), you will be instrumental in shaping policy and external advocacy initiatives, working closely and in partnership with the Senior Director, Global Oncology Policy & Advocacy.
In this role, you will collaborate with country offices, key partners, and the Global Oncology Policy & advocacy team to help redefine lung cancer care within health systems. You will help implement engagements with leading international institutions and coalitions to advance global and regional health policies, ensuring patient-centric approaches and improvements in outcomes for those affected by lung cancer.
Key Accountabilities
Based in Gaithersburg, you'll be part of our global oncology corporate affairs group, where every person plays a part in our story. In particular, this role will focus on:
Enabling healthcare system transformation in lung cancer care:
Work together with key stakeholders to strengthen AstraZeneca’s network among lung cancer patient advocacy organizations and policy partners. You will partner in initiatives addressing priority challenges in lung cancer, such as improving access to molecular diagnostics, multi-disciplinary care, and innovative therapies.
Amplifying the patient voice and experience:
Support a variety of teams to work with patients, caregivers, and advocacy partners to develop and share impactful patient narratives that inspire change in lung cancer services. Help ensure that robust patient insights are incorporated into AstraZeneca’s internal and external efforts.
Building market and regional partnerships:
In partnership with government affairs, patient advocacy, and business leaders across regions and markets. You will support the implementation of projects focused on early detection, risk reduction, faster diagnosis, and equitable access to advanced treatments, especially in those settings with the greatest unmet needs.
Collaborating cross-functionally:
Partner with oncology medical, commercial, diagnostics, and market access teams to help shape and execute public policy and advocacy strategies for lung cancer. You will contribute to strategic counsel for business leadership related to policy and patient advocacy, always in close cooperation with other leaders in Global Corporate Affairs.

Essential Experience & Skills
Five to ten years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, patient advocacy, or medical societies, preferably in oncology (ideally lung cancer or similar disease area).
Proven understanding of healthcare systems and experience supporting healthcare policy change at country level.
