Position Overview

The M&A Associate will play a key role in supporting the M&A team at Payroc in various transaction-related activities, including sourcing, evaluating, and executing mergers and acquisitions. This individual will be responsible for performing both quantitative and qualitative analysis, such as due diligence, valuations, competitive benchmarking, and industry studies. The role requires the development of complex financial models, preparing presentations for senior management, and coordinating research to assess strategic impacts and risks associated with potential transactions. The M&A Associate will work directly with both Senior Manager and SVP of M&A, as well as interact regularly with Payroc’s leading private equity investor. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Evaluates Payroc’s opportunities for mergers and acquisitions.
  • Performs quantitative and qualitative analysis, including due diligence, valuation, competitive benchmarking and industry / sector studies.
  • Builds detailed and complex financial models.
  • Prepares presentations for senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate’s research and analysis activities required to assess strategic impact and risk.
  • Supports the general efforts of the M&A team, including sourcing, evaluating, and executing M&A transactions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in investment banking or a similar role.
  • Payments industry experience preferred.
  • Self-starter, high energy, and detail oriented.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to be resourceful in complex situations.
  • Exceptional financial modeling skills and advanced in the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to manipulate large datasets and create summary outputs.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and possess strong integrity and professionalism.

Travel Component

  • Occasionally, you may be required to travel with the executive team, but this may be minimal. Less than 10%

Working Conditions

  • Extensive desk-based work, including prolonged periods of computer use and administrative tasks.
  • Frequent interaction with team members, leadership, vendors, and external contacts.
  • Occasional physical tasks such as lifting office supplies, deliveries, or meeting materials (up to 25 lbs).
