Division/Program Summary Description:
The NYC Health Worksite Wellness Program provides wellness initiatives, programs, and resources to help health department staff live a healthy and fulfilling lifestyle. Worksite Wellness initiatives focus on many different areas that contribute to well-being, like physical activity, healthy eating, work-life integration, general health and prevention, and mental health. Worksite Wellness offers a range of services including mental health programming, resources, and workshops on topics such as stress, burnout, and resilience. Our program also provides support spaces, wellness suites, and events like mental health screenings. The public health workforce has been experiencing high levels of burnout and stress stemming from our tireless work during the COVID-19 pandemic and other public health emergencies over the last four years. Furthermore, our Worksite Wellness team is looking to expand mental health support and engagement for staff.
The Worksite Wellness Program sits within the Division of Administration at the Health Department. The division supports operations for the entire agency, including Human Resources and Labor Relations, Workforce Development, Facilities Planning and Administrative Services, Operations for our District Health Centers and other DOHMH buildings, Occupational Health and Safety, Employee Health, Clinical Quality Management and Improvement, and Worksite Wellness programs.
Position Summary:
The Wellness Program has an opening for a Worksite Wellness Mental Health Program Manager who will report to the Worksite Wellness Director. This position offers the opportunity to work in a strategic position with partners and clients across the Agency as well as agency leadership. The position will help manage and expand mental health and wellness programming to address burnout, stress, and other emotional challenges facing our workforce. This position will liaise, partner, and help support divisions to improve staff's mental well-being by organizing mental health workshops, trainings, and programs as well as developing action plans on how to support staff's mental well-being. This position will also develop a plan to evaluate and analyze the effectiveness and success of mental well-being programs implemented. The ideal candidate will have a Master of Public Health or Social Work, and four years of project management experience working in mental health.
Duties:
- Coordinate and manage mental health and wellness programming across the agency.
- Manage and expand the Let’s Talk, NYC Health mental health initiative.
- Work with Divisions to develop plans on how to improve and support mental health among their staff.
- Collaborate with Worksite Wellness partners to plan and implement mental health workshops for staff.
- Collaborate with Worksite Wellness team members to deliver mental health workshops and programs for staff.
- Implement solutions to increase staff’s access to and utilization of mental health supports and resources.
- Conduct analysis and research on the progress and effectiveness of mental health programs.
- Collect data, track program progress, and develop monthly reports.
- Provide updates and progress reports with agency leadership as needed.
- Manage and expand wellness suites across worksites.
- Serve as a liaison with the NYC Employee Assistance Program.
- Collaborate and partner with vendors to provide well-being programs.
PREFERRED SKILLS:
The ideal candidate for this position must be a pro-active and self-motivated individual with the ability to work in teams with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement and project management.
- Excellent communication (verbal & written) and interpersonal skills.
- Mental Health license or certification desired, but not required.
- Experience with program monitoring and evaluation.
- Experience working with the public health sector.
- Fluency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
Strongly Desired:
- MPH, MSW or related graduate degree preferred
- At least 2-4 years of project management experience
- Previous experience working in mental health
- Capacity and willingness to learn organizational applications and policies
