Anoka County Attorney’s Office Investigations Division has two investigator classifications, an Investigator I position as well as an Investigator II position. The difference in the two positions include but are not limited to: years of general experience and specialized investigative knowledge (ex. Digital forensics, welfare fraud, law enforcement investigations, technological investigations, etc.). This posting is for an Investigator II.
This position will work within the Anoka County Attorney’s Office Investigation Division which handles a variety of assignments including the investigation of criminal cases, participation in civil cases on behalf of the County, as well as conducting internal investigations related to allegations of county employee misconduct.
This position is also responsible for investigating and assisting in other matters as assigned and assuring that general policies and statutory responsibilities are followed. This position will act as liaison between investigators, law enforcement, the general public, and attorney staff. Other duties to be completed as assigned by the Investigations Division Manager.
This is a full-time, non-exempt, benefit-eligible position located at the Anoka County Government Center in downtown Anoka. After the successful completion of the initial 6 months probationary period, this position is eligible for flexible work arrangements, including a hybrid schedule with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. The work schedule is subject to change based on business needs and supervisor approval.

Pay and Benefits
Anoka County Salary Schedule, for Investigator II, Grade 34: $35.68 to $49.95 per hour ($74,214.40 to $103,896.00 per year). Offer to be commensurate with experience.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Criminal Investigations:
Investigation of suspected public assistance fraud cases referred to Anoka County from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, Minnesota Department of Children, Youth and Families, or identified by Anoka County Economic Assistance.
Investigation of suspected cases of financial exploitation of vulnerable adults referred from Anoka County Adult Protection and law enforcement agencies.
Investigation of varying complex financial crimes referred by law enforcement agencies.
Interviewing witnesses, suspects, and others with case knowledge, gathering evidence related to investigations, preserving evidence and the chain of custody to assure admissibility in court.
Accurately drafting court documents as appropriate for completion of cases, i.e., investigative reports, administrative subpoenas, search warrants, and complaints.
Civil Investigations:
Investigation of civil matters to provide the basis for county action in fraud cases, tort defense, discrimination, sexual harassment, employee discipline, and other matters that may be appropriate.
