Person will be a member of the Optical Network Engineering team which is responsible for building and scaling Oracle’s DWDM Transport Network and pluggable optics. The team is focused on engineering, productization and operationalization of optical transport systems. Contributing member will have a direct impact on our top priority to provide metro DWDM optical transport solutions in support of the needs of the network. To continue to drive down costs for equipment and services for DWDM. To train other teams to deploy and operate optical systems. To provide operations support to ensure availability and uptime of the DWDM network. To develop standards for engineering, deployment, and operations. To write code enabling the acceleration of our engineering cycles.
Optical Design and Development
As a product owner for Optical Engineering, lead efforts to productize WDM platforms by creating correct, maintainable optical network configurations/designs including accounting for future uses for metro, regional and long-haul DWDM systems. Independently design for optical platform features & subsystems. Drive operational readiness & excellence of optical features & subsystems. Define optical standards and best practices for deployment. Lead architecture and project planning for optical system/service, identifying and mitigating risk. Lead First Office Application (FOA) and field trials of new platforms and technologies. Work with network qualification team to test and incorporate new platforms into the network. Write code enabling the acceleration of our engineering cycles. Develop engineering skills inside of Optical Engineering and in peer groups. Contribute to optical network infrastructure documentation; update and maintain network drawings and plans for both operational purposes and new builds. Train other teams to deploy and operate optical systems.
Optical Network Operations Support
Maximize network performance by troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating within the team, with network architects and others on network optimization for optical equipment platforms and circuits such as DWDM. Contribute with code with development teams for foundations of automation tools with a perspective of transport systems and operational best practices. Plan and implement network changes in a high availability environment.
As a Principal Network Development Engineer in Optical Engineering, candidate must have at least 5 years of relevant optical engineering experience combined with a Bachelor or Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent domain specific to this functional area in Optical.
The optical network Engineer will have excellent written and verbal communication and collaboration habits that will enable them to operate with a high level of agility and autonomy.

Range and benefit information provided in this posting are specific to the stated locations only
US: Hiring Range: from $109,100 to $223,500 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.

Vacation accrual is prorated for employees working between 20 and 34 hours per week. Employees working fewer than 20 hours per week are not eligible for vacation.
