Although this is listed as a remote opportunity, there is a very strong preference for candidates living or willing to relocate to Dearborn, MI in a hybrid environment.
Onsite work of up to three days per week may be required for candidates within commuting distance of a Ford hub location.
What you'll do...
Role:
- As the Director, eCommerce Product Delivery, you will oversee the delivery, architecture, and engineering for a complex micro services ecosystem
- Build a modern, greenfield open stack platform based on MACH architecture principles for a large-scale ecommerce initiative with controlled data duplication.
- Model the use of modern software engineering practices (TDD BDD, CI/CD, Shift left, 12 factor applications, API first design language etc..) to support integration with existing Ford software products as well as external cloud-based services.
- Collaborate with Ford’s Enterprise Architecture organization to rationalize technologies, further leverage current technology offerings already in use, and identify gaps/opportunities.
- Implement a talent system to review existing team capabilities (internal and external) and build and promote practices to develop a world-class software engineering team.
- Provide thought leadership for the development, structure, technology of Ford with skills in strategic planning, goal setting, processes development, budgeting, and creating opportunities for professional development within technology teams
- Strategize & work with senior leaders across Ford’s engineering organization to make significant, measurable impact on a global scale by innovating and operating with an iterative, agile, and user-centric perspective
Scope:
- Global. Team members will be in India, US and/or Europe
- Provide technical leadership to multiple product lines across eCommerce platforms
- Help business partners understand our iterative development approach and focus on delivering a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and releases through careful and deliberate prioritization
Portfolio Size:
- The Initial team size is approximately 50 direct/indirect technologists, with ~ 10M budget oversight
You'll have...
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field or a combination of education and equivalent work experience
- 15+ years of Software Engineering/Delivery Experience
- 5+ years of experience in a technical leadership role, managing software development teams

- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field
- Leadership Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a remote/virtual work setting with other global team members
- Proven facilitation skills - able to effectively drive discussion among diverse perspectives and reach a decision or recommendation
- Proven ability to work closely with executive leadership teams
- Effectively work with cross-functional teams across the organization – inside and outside of the technology and software organization
- Ability to lead through change
- Functional/Technical Skills:
- Strong hands-on Software engineering/ programming/ solution design experience
- Experience/Awareness of Microservices architecture, Cloud-Native architectures, Event-driven architectures, APIs, Domain-Driv
