Job Details:

The purpose of this position is to support research studies that aim to improve the health of young children. The position entails working closely with interdisciplinary nutrition scientists and human development scientists and their research team. This position is responsible for the performance of research and duties under supervising research professors, the research lab manager and other staff. The work shift is typically a usual M-F schedule; however, study visits will also need to be held on weekends and evenings.

Position will end 8/31/2024, with the potential of extension based on performance and funding.

Assists with intervention research, observational research studies, anthropometric measurements, developmental assessments, and administration of questionnaires. Assists with collection, processing, data coding, and transport of specimens, as needed. Adaptability with unscheduled last-minute events like in person and virtual study visits.

Responsibilities

  • Provide study intervention, collect data, and complete administrative visit duties for study visit

  • Assist with measurements and child developmental assessments for study visits

  • Assist with participant coordination and data tracking

  • Support data management and processing

  • Assist with other related tasks

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with nutrition, human development and family sciences, psychology, public health or related field.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.   

  • Exceptional organizational skills. 

  • Ability to assist an active and large research laboratory and meet deadlines.   

  • Must be skilled with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual - Fluent in Spanish 

  • Registered Dietitian or training to become a Dietitian.

  • Experience providing nutrition interventions to children and families

  • Experience working with infants, children and/or families 

  • Experience conducting research in social or biological science, including familiarity with data storage, data entry, and data management.   

Salary Range

$40,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Uniforms and/or personal protection equipment (furnished)

  • Work around standard office conditions

  • Work with MRI or X-ray machines

  • Work around bio-hazards

  • May work around chemicals

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at workstation

  • Use of manual dexterity

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects, up to 50 lbs.

  • Usual laboratory conditions

Work Shift

  • The work shift is typically a usual M-F schedule; however, study visits will also need to be held on weekends and evenings.
