Staff Accountant
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Purpose and function of job.
Performs traditional general accounting functions such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll analysis, general ledger, and month end closings. Applies principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports. Maintains or oversees the control of accounts and records in such areas as disbursements, expenses, tax payments, and income. Compiles and analyzes financial information to record transactions, prepare reports, and review and verify accuracy. Prepares balance sheet and profit and loss statements, consolidated financial statements, and other accounting schedules and reports. Prepares financial statements and supporting schedules according to monthly closing plan. Prepares forecasts and reports detailing revenues and expenses by cost center. Analyzes financial statements and investigates and reports on variances. Prepares tax returns and other corporate reporting requirements. Assists with preparations for the annual audit. Corresponds with other departments to ensure proper accounting for revenue, purchases, and expenses. May design, modify, install, and/or maintain accounting systems to ensure an adequate recognition of financial transactions. Responsible for the adherence to and communication of accounting and auditing policies and procedures. Experienced with frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, and theories. Works under general supervision, providing solutions to technical problems of moderate scope/complexity. This position will be working in Omaha, NE. Pay is based on experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:Essential duties and tasks that must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Practices, supports, and maintains the Mission, Vision and Values of WarHorse Gaming, LLC.
- Reconcile bank statements to the general ledger.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts as assigned in a timely and accurate manner to ensure financial statements are materially accurate.
- Prepares journal entries to support the proper reporting of revenue and costs in the correct period in accordance with GAAP
- Assist the Financial Controller with the month end close procedures.
- Analyzes records of transactions to determine accuracy and completeness of entries.
- Research transactions identified in the month end close process that require explanation.
- Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, amortization and depreciation schedules, and other financial reports, using calculator or computer.
- Serves as backup to Accounts Payable Specialist; receives, reviews, and processes vendor and subcontractor invoices and employee expense reports; prepares accounts payable edit journals for review; verifies and posts checks to appropriate vendors; assists with vendor Form 1099 reporting at year end.
- Maintains client confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Perform other duties and special projects as requested by management.
- Assist with the financial audit of the company year-end financial statements as directed by the Financial Controller.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
Education, experience, skills required, equipment used. A satisfactory combination of applicable experience and education may be considered in lieu of experience requirements.
- Bachelor’s (or equivalent) in accounting, finance, or related field
- Two (2) to four (4) years of experience in accounting or finance, with experience in a hotel/casino preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting ERP systems, with preference to experience with SAP.
- Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent skills required in working across multi-functional teams and supporting business units.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
