About the Role

Our International Intermodal Pricing Analyst obtains, compiles, and maintains carrier and railroad rates and provides price quotes associated with accomplishing customer shipping requirements. The position also formulates transportation plans that are designed to move freight, from points of origin to final destinations, on behalf of Matson Logistics (ML) customers, through utilization of the most effective and efficient means of intermodal transportation options available.

What you’ll do:

• Prepares bids and pricing projects and communicates with customers and suppliers as necessary.
• Maintains accurate transportation costs in spreadsheets and databases as required.
• Works directly with ML customers and Sales force to understand customer logistics/transportation needs.
• Negotiates transportation pricing with vendors.
• Matches customer requirements to competitive ML service offerings.
• Works together with ML customer service and administrative coworkers to improve workflow efficiency and minimize accessorial costs.
• Resolves vendor cost/pricing/rate discrepancies and issues.
• Compiles rate and service information in various forms, including e-mails and websites, from transportation and related service vendors.
• Maintains historical records of expired rates for reference purposes.
• Issues updates to all necessary and affected ML personnel apprising them of upcoming rate and service changes and publishes transit schedules.
• Performs any task required to support customer requirements and company goals.
• Support intermodal operations and equipment departments as needed.
• Find drayage capacity when markets are tight and match that capacity to uncovered loads.

You have these skills:

• Ability to conduct drayage RFPs and negotiate drayage agreements (price, service performance terms, accessorial terms, etc.)
• Strong analytical and technical skills to work databases and conduct transportation rate analysis
• Strong interpersonal and demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone skills.
• Strong work ethic and ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
• Must build and maintain productive working relationships with including vendors, suppliers, and internal and external customers to achieve common goals.
• Knowledge of North American transportation geography.
• Ability to develop solid working knowledge of intermodal transportation industry.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to accurately input and edit transaction data, in a timely manner, (including accessorials and discrepancies) in the Company's computerized order-entry system

And these qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Extra credit if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree from college or university.
• Two or more years related experience in transportation industry (intermodal and pricing functions desired) and/or training.
