Role Overview

Connie Health is seeking a versatile and experienced Backend Engineer to design, build, maintain, and scale the sales platform that empowers our Medicare agents to provide exceptional service to customers. You will be part of the Agent Experiences team, responsible for building the critical tools used by our Medicare agents everyday. A key responsibility for this role will be developing and optimizing our calling infrastructure, enabling seamless communication between agents and customers. You'll work with a modern tech stack and contribute significantly to scaling our platform as we continue to grow and transform how older Americans navigate their healthcare.

This is a hybrid role, based out of our new Boston office near South Station.

What You’ll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using TypeScript and PostgreSQL.
• Spearhead the development of our Twilio-based calling infrastructure, ensuring high availability, reliability, and call quality for our agents.
• Maintain our existing Five9 and Zoom based calling infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product managers and other engineers to define requirements, design solutions, and deliver high-quality features.
• Optimize existing services for performance, scalability, and security.
• Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and contribute to architectural decisions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience focused on backend software development.
• 3+ years of experience building and maintaining production-grade applications with Twilio.
• Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript and NodeJS.
• Experience with SQL databases, PostgreSQL is a plus.
• Solid understanding of API design principles and experience building REST APIs.
• Experience integrating with third party APIs.
• Experience with testing, debugging, and performance tuning backend applications.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NestJS.
• Experience with Five9 and Zoom APIs. 
• Proficiency with Docker for containerization and deployment.
• Experience integrating with Salesforce APIs.
• Experience with AWS.
• Prior experience in the healthcare or insurance industry, particularly with Medicare.
• A product mindset with the ability to tie technical work to user outcomes and business impact.
