Job Overview

Join the Jensen Hughes’ Legal & Compliance team as a Privacy and Data Protection Specialist, playing a key role in shaping and advancing our Compliance Program. This is a remote position open to candidates across the U.S., with the expectation of a reliable internet connection and a dedicated, distraction-free workspace.

Reporting to the Director of Compliance, you’ll lead our Privacy and Data Protection efforts while supporting key compliance functions, including export controls, background checks, and government reporting (e.g., EEOC, Affirmative Action). This role is ideal for a compliance generalist with a Privacy certification who is detail-oriented, collaborative, and passionate about ethical practices.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document a formal Privacy and Data Protection program
  • Manage day-to-day compliance requests, including client questionnaires and document reviews
  • Oversee background checks and clearance processes for employees and contractors
  • Maintain and update policies, procedures, and compliance documentation
  • Manage export compliance (technical knowledge exports)
  • Prepare required filings for EEOC, Affirmative Action, and other government programs
  • Monitor regulatory developments and integrate best practices
  • Conduct risk-based assessments and support audit-readiness
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to embed a culture of compliance
  • Support general compliance efforts, project planning, and training initiatives

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in compliance, risk, or regulatory affairs (or 6+ years without a degree)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • CIPP certification strongly preferred; CCEP a plus
  • Working knowledge of privacy laws and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong project management, communication, and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with MS Project, Excel, or Access is a plus
  • Proven ability to manage confidential information and build trust across diverse teams
