We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. This role is responsible for performing complex accounting functions in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and statutory requirements. The Senior Accountant will actively contribute to monthly close processes, generate reports for internal and external stakeholders, and participate in cross-functional projects to drive organizational success.
Please note this is a hybrid position and requires the ability to report to the Oakland, CA office as needed, typically once per month for collaboration, with occasional additional days required.
- Prepare and post journal entries, including consolidation, group profit and loss, inter-company transactions, fixed assets, leases, software development, and statutory adjustments.
- Generate financial statements, regulatory filings, internal performance reports, and ad hoc reports, while validating data accuracy and supporting enterprise reporting requests.
- Conduct account reconciliations and online banking activities, analyzing variances and identifying key drivers and trends.
- Process and report transactions in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support special projects within the division and cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate proactively to identify, research, and resolve transaction issues.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance operational efficiency and lead assigned projects.
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements.
- Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
- Located within a reasonable commuting distance to the Oakland, CA office.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent; Public Accounting experience preferred.
- 4+ years of accounting experience with in-depth knowledge of GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, v-lookup, data analysis).
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with Oracle Financial or ERP systems preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred.
- Dental or healthcare experience a plus!
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams, functions, and organizational levels.
Base Pay Information
The national base pay range at the end is a good faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental’s assessment of the candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications, and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications. Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity.
Pay Grade 19. $63,700 - $133,500
