Center Medical Director

Summary of the Role:As the Center Medical Director, you will have the opportunity to be part of Massachusetts’ first socially focused, value-based care clinics for Medicare recipients. We are continuing to grow our first clinic located in Quincy, MA, and are expanding into Lynn and Dorchester in 2024. This role will have dual responsibilities in providing clinical care to our patients while serving as the clinical and administrative leadership for our clinic. Due to the early stage of our organization and projected growth, this role will have substantial opportunity for rapid advancement up the clinical leadership track. The ideal candidate will have passion for making a difference in patients’ lives in the community and expanding this unique model across Massachusetts.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership:- Provide high-quality primary care services including urgent care visits for established patients.- Collaborate with the Care Team to provide high-touch and best-in-class clinical services to patients.- Make and receive follow-up phone calls with patients to remain close to their health journey and provide support.- Document visits and clinical notes in our EHR (Athena) and other platforms or trackers. - Connect with ER and hospital providers at the time of presentation and during the admission and discharge process.- Provide on-call support for some escalated cases (volume is light).- Serve as a clinical mentor for the Care Team, i.e., NPs, PAs, Gather Guide Partners, and Medical Technician Partners.- Ensure compliance with clinical best practices and quality standards.
Administrative Leadership:- Onboard, develop, and performance-manage center PCPs and other clinical staff.- Lead and execute center’s strategy to achieve HEDIS, CAHAPS, HOS score targets.- Lead and execute center’s ER and Hospital Admission diversion strategies.- Participate in community outreach efforts in partnership with our Growth department initiatives.- Oversee the day-to-day clinical operation including staff management, patient flow, labs, etc.- Lead daily huddles in the morning and end of the day to support clinical staff on patient concerns and next steps.- Partner with our administrative team to establish and maintain the vision of quality care that aligns with Gather Health’s mission.- Participate in budget planning/management for the clinic.- Maintain EHR (Athena) and other technology platforms to optimize patient care and clinic operations.- Collaborate with senior leadership to plan and execute the opening of new clinics in the future.- Take a lead role in the selection, training, and supervision of clinical staff at multiple clinic locations.
Job Requirements:- MD or DO in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Geriatrics or similar specialties.- Current and active licensure in state of residence with ability to obtain Massachusetts license (if relocating).- Board eligibility or board certification in Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Geriatrics or similar specialties.- Current DEA number.- A minimum of 5 years’ clinical experience in geriatric, adult or family practice setting (2 years of clinical leadership experience preferred).- Ability to obtain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AMA) or American Red Cross within the first 90 days of employment.- Experience with basic office tools such as email, Outlook calendar, etc.- Strong verbal, written, and reading comprehension skills in English (Bilingual skills in Haitian Creole, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, or Vietnamese preferred).- Ability to work for any employer in the United States
