Job Description

The Sr. Payroll Analyst will perform detailed activities to support the daily operations of Treace’s payroll processing. This position is responsible for processing payroll for multi-state, multiple pay cycles, and associated tax administration and will partner with outside vendors and internal stakeholders to meet payroll expectations. The position will develop and execute general practices and policies, ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, or governmental requirements, and keep abreast of any associated changes that impact Treace’s payroll processes.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Enter payroll information for time and attendance, taxes, deductions, and payroll adjustments for biweekly and monthly payrolls.
  • Verifies that employees are set up appropriately, meeting all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensures accurate and timely payroll transmissions and conducts periodic data audits.
  • Enter federal, state, and local taxes and ensure employee data is coded in accordance with state and local jurisdictions.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with our payroll processor, internal and external auditors, and local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Monitors changes and remains current on legal, regulatory or governmental requirements (e.g. Wage and hour, garnishments, tax matters, 401(k) and other benefit deductions)
  • Facilitate interaction between Payroll and equity compensation system
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance with SOX internal controls
  • Identify process improvement initiatives and define standards for new processes
  • Partner with Financial Planning and Analysis to ensure commissions’ payrolls are accurate and timely
  • Assists with requests for reporting and audits (401(k), debt compliance, worker’s compensation, etc.)
  • Responds to employee and manager inquiries, providing timely problem-resolution
  • Support special projects as needed

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of payroll administration including in-depth understanding of all rules, regulations, policies, procedures and record keeping ensuring compliance with federal, state and corporate requirements
  • Experience using ADP, highly preferred
  • Experience with SOX compliance and with designing, implementing, and operating internal controls
  • Proactive customer service orientation
  • Strong leadership skills that include leading by example
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, business acumen, critical evaluation, ethical practice and communication skills
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience using Netsuite, preferred
  • Strong organization and planning skills; ability to handle multiple projects
  • Extreme attention to detail and accuracy
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state and local tax regulations
  • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to HR, Payroll & Compensation company policies, programs and operations
  • Ability to maintain discretion and highest level of confidentiality at all times
  • Proven ability to translate data to various audiences
  • Experience with report development

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline, or equivalent experience required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional, preferred
  • Minimum five (5) years of direct payroll processing experience
