This role’s primary day to day responsibility will be in using deep industry and / or technical experience to support delivery of Northern Trust information security and technology risk program objectives. This may include areas such as identifying significant risks or vulnerabilities, assisting with the design of solutions and helping Northern Trust to positively impact strategic areas of the program. Position is an independent contributor and will work closely with peers and manager.
The key responsibilities of the role include:
- Conduct exercises / operations / assessments related to the assigned discipline, including technical testing / examinations.
- Complete reviews of test results and findings within the team as assigned.
- Research and develop testing tools / frameworks for use by Northern Trust.
- Work with individuals to determine action plans to remediate identified risks.
- Document and report findings and remediation plans to management.
- Plan, schedule and monitor project/program deliverables, goals and milestones.
- Produce meaningful, measured metrics in regard to authored programs.
- Provide cross training for relevant team members.
- Support training and awareness activities for assigned disciplines.
- Remain informed on trends and issues in the security industry, including current and emerging technologies and prices. Advise, counsel, and educate executive and management teams and others on their relative importance and financial impact.
- Provide support for strategically important projects related to information security and technology risk management.
- Participate in cyber security incident response as required.
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Ethical hacking techniques such as social engineering, physical security or customized scanning / scripts / tools is required.
- Proficiency in performing application security assessments (including source code review, vulnerability scans, web service testing, use of disassemblers/decompilers/debuggers, reverse engineering, binary analysis, and disk / memory forensics).
- Experience with maintaining infrastructure to support testing and developing network level penetration testing measures (including wireless assessments, VoIP security, war dialing, remote pre-texting, and use of network analysis tools / vulnerability scanners).
- Experience in a security consulting role.
- Experience scoping engagements and developing technical proposals.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in an individual contributor and team capacity, in particular multi-national teams.
- Able to effectively manage projects and complete multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently while maintaining a sense of urgency and attention to detail.
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to prepare clearly written, organized documents, reports and communications that demonstrate proper justification and support for any conclusions and assessment results and contain correct grammar, punctuation and spelling.
- Able to interact in a professional manner and develop relationships with individuals and teams at any level in Northern Trust or third-party service provider.
- Minimum of 5 /10 years in technical field.
- Bachelor’s degree in, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- Advanced Degree in IT related topics a plus.
- Financial Services experience a plus.
