Principal, Data Steward

Position Summary...

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Data Steward to join our Data Enablement team at Walmart. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding the business value and relevance of data and data-enabled insights/decisions. You will have a deep understanding of the data ecosystem, including data management, data quality standards, data governance, accessibility, storage, and scalability. Additionally, you should have a strong understanding of the methods and applications that unlock the monetary value of data assets.

What you'll do...

• Understand, articulate, interpret and apply the principles of our defined strategy to unique, moderately complex business problems that may span multiple functions or domains.  

• You will be responsible for data source identification, data governance, data quality management, and master data and metadata management.  

• Identify suitable data sources, perform data quality checks, establish and implement data governance practices, manage data quality issues, and maintain master data and metadata. 

• You will provide recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business issues, develop business cases for projects, and translate business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks aligned with the overall business strategy.

Qualifications:  

 

• Experience with data analysis, data documentation, data quality monitoring and improvement. 

• Strong understanding of organization’s needs and ability to drive change 

• Strong leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to influence key decision-makers and understand their points of view  

• Must be able to work effectively both on teams as well as be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized. 

• Strong customer focus and obsession with quality 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced and agile development environment
