Interior Designer

The Interior Designer is responsible for planning, designing, and selecting finishes for residential and commercial spaces damaged by fire, water, mold, or other insured perils. This role blends creative design with practical restoration expertise, ensuring the final results meet client expectations, insurance requirements, and industry standards while providing exceptional customer service representing the Paul Davis brand in a safe working environment.
- Visionary Restoration: Lead the end-to-end design process, from initial damage assessment to final styling, ensuring every space exceeds client expectations.
- Strategic Material Selection: Source and specify durable, high-quality finishes (flooring, lighting, cabinetry, and textiles) that align with both the client's aesthetic and insurance budgets.
- Technical Excellence: Develop detailed 2D/3D renderings, floor plans, and construction documents to guide the reconstruction team.
- Empathetic Consultation: Serve as the primary design advocate for clients, guiding them through the selection process with patience and expertise during stressful restoration periods.
- Project Synergy: Collaborate closely with Project Managers, estimators, and subcontractors to ensure design intent is executed accurately, on time, and within building codes.
- Relationship Architect: Exceptional communication skills and a "servant’s heart" for providing top-tier customer service.
- Organizational Mastery: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining meticulous documentation and budget
- Collaborate with homeowners, adjusters, and project managers to develop design solutions aligned with restoration scope and budget
- Develop design concepts that restore and enhance the original space
- Provide guidance on material selections (e.g., flooring, cabinetry, paint, fixtures, etc.)
- Create mood boards, color palettes, and renderings or sketches as needed
- Document and specify products, finishes, and design intent for approval by stakeholders
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and installers to ensure execution of design specifications
- Ensure selections comply with insurance allowances, Xactimate estimates, and local building codes
- Assist with product sourcing and procurement
- Visit job sites to ensure quality, accuracy, and client satisfaction throughout the build process
- Maintain organized project records, selections, and communications in company systems
- Coordinate with vendors and sales reps to obtain up-to-date catalogs, pricing, and sample boards.
- Ensure the showroom is client-ready at all times, maintaining a welcoming and professional appearance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design or related field
- 2+ years of design experience; restoration or insurance industry experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of construction materials, finishes, and building codes
- Understanding of Xactimate or willingness to learn
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized with attention to detail and timelines
- Ability to work with emotionally distressed clients under challenging circumstances
- Ability to anticipate work needs and interact professionally with customers.
- Ability to adapt to changes.
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
