The University of Miami is looking for a talented and motivated individual to join its growing Office of Enterprise Project Management.  The Sr. Project Manager will enjoy a high degree of organizational visibility and will have accountability and responsibility for cross-functional project planning, leadership, and success. The ePMO is responsible for the cross-functional management of selected critical programs and projects. This group of portfolio, program, and project management professionals ensures the successful definition, development, and delivery of projects, adhering to critical processes, standards, and best practices, to provide on-time delivery and significant value to our customers and patients.

The Sr. Project Manager will plan, organize, and implement the ePMO’s technical projects and adopt system and operational process improvements in partnership with cross-functional teams to ensure that projects and the program deliver the intended value to customers.  The Sr. Project Manager has the responsibility of managing project expectations with IT team members and other key stakeholders, defining the project’s scope and deliverables, communicating the functional requirements and dependencies to the IT team members, developing the plan, executing it, and creating relevant documentation to track progress.

The Sr. Project Manager will build relationships with IT leadership and achieve a strong understanding of the department’s function, initiatives, and projects, how business needs will be translated to workflows as well as the team’s skill sets and expertise.  The Sr. Project Manager may be dedicated to a specific IT department or be a generalist and flexible to provide support across multiple departments.

The ideal candidate will be organized, process-oriented, and give meticulous attention to detail. The candidate will be adept in applying project management principles and frameworks and comfortable in managing a team along a project’s full life cycle. The candidate will be able to create a detailed plan of the technical requirements as well as zoom out and understand the broader objective and its interdependencies. The Sr. Project Manager will lend insight and support the portfolio and program managers in planning and reporting on projects within the portfolio.

  • Leads, manages, coordinates, and reports on multiple projects, maintaining organizational standards of satisfaction, quality, and performance.

  • Assembles and drives cross-functional project teams identifies resources needed and develops detailed project plans and schedules to ensure on-time completion of projects.

  • Communicates frequently with team members and senior business stakeholders regarding project status and identifies and resolves project problems, issues, and risks; reports on mitigating steps and actions taken to ensure timely deliverables, project success, and quality.  Identifies when issues or risks require escalation to senior leadership and proactively communicates potential impact on the overall project.

  • Provides weekly status reports highlighting component and overall project health, accomplishments, plans, and issues to project team members and leadership.

  • Ensures consistent project management processes and tools are employed in alignment with ePMO best practices, as well as constantly identifies continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Facilitates decision-making between project team members around technical and non-technical issues related to the project.

  • Partners with IT team members and project sponsors to deliver the technical components of the project as well as the business readiness activities required to prepare internal business groups and external customers for the project deliverables.

  • Cultivates inter-departmental relationships with all stakeholders.
