CNN Race & Equality Intern: NYC - Fall 2024

Your New Role 

This internship will be located in the NYC area. The selected intern will be expected to join us in the office on a regular cadence based on the intern manager’s in office schedule.  Every great story has a beginning and CNN Newsgathering is where our stories begin for digital and on-air programming. Every day brings new and exciting opportunities to be a part of history and stories that impact our neighborhood, city, state, country, and beyond. We work closely with on-air correspondents, producers, and digital writers. The goal is to research, gather, and accurately report what is happening in the race and equality space in our world and the world around us.

Your Role Accountabilities 

  • Research developing and breaking news stories

  • Fact-check

  • Log tapes

  • Conduct interviews

  • Pitch story ideas

  • Write brief news copy

 

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Must be located in NY

  • Must provide writing samples. Please link your writing samples within your resume or attach as one PDF along with your resume and cover letter.

  • Must be curious

  • Excellent communicator

  • Attention to detail

  • Research skills

  • Digital literacy

  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program for the full duration of the internship (proof of enrollment required) 

  • Must be a rising Junior or Senior (18 years or older) 

  • Must be in academic good standing (3.0 or above cumulative GPA) 

  • Warner Bros. Discovery will only consider candidates who are presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and who will not require work visa sponsorship from Warner Bros. Discovery now or in the future in order to retain their authorization to work in the United States. Candidates currently on any student or exchange visa, including F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1, etc., will not be eligible for the internship program.
