Sr Accountant (Mon-Fri 8:00am-4:30pm)

Description

A Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and overseeing general accounting operations by controlling and verifying financial transactions. They ensure accuracy and efficiency in all financial processes and play a key role in maintaining company compliance with accounting principles, practices, and procedures.  

Requirements

• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and other financial reports.
• Month-End & Year-End Closures: Lead and manage monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and ensure that all transactions are properly recorded and categorized.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Internal Revenue Service (IRS) regulations, and other relevant accounting standards.
• Audit Coordination: Assist with the preparation and coordination of the external and internal audit processes.
• Tax Preparation: Oversee tax reporting and filing, including sales tax, income tax, and property tax returns.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: Work with the finance team to create budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Internal Controls: Implement and maintain accounting control procedures to safeguard company assets.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Oversee and review processes for managing payables and receivables, ensuring timely and accurate payments and collections.
• Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving accounting systems, procedures, and reporting tools.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior accounting staff, providing oversight and supporting their development.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
• Experience: 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a supervisory or senior accounting role.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
  • Advanced MS Excel skills (vlookups, pivot tables, etc.).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.

Additional Preferred Experience:

• Experience with ERP systems.
• Knowledge of corporate tax, treasury management, and regulatory reporting.
