Summary

The Senior Resident Assistant (SRAs) is a live-in student staff member committed to the personal and academic success of residents within the community. The Senior Resident Assistant is responsible for providing leadership and support to a team of Resident Assistants, while also overseeing the daily operations and administrative support of The Towers. This position requires a strong commitment to fostering a positive living environment, assisting residents, and ensuring the safety and well-being of the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Community Development:

  • Collaborate with Resident Assistants to develop creative initiatives and activities.
  • Encourage and promote student involvement and engagement within the residential community.
  • Co-Advise the Residence Hall Association. Attending weekly general body meetings, training the executive board, attending e-board meetings, and supporting RHA programs and initiative
  •  Be available to residents and maintain high level of visibility in the buildings and community
  • Serve as a resource for residents, providing information on campus resources, policies, and procedures.
  • Address behavioral issues and enforce community standards in a fair and consistent manner.

Leadership and Mentorship:

  • Provide guidance and support to Resident Assistants in their roles.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
  • Conduct regular check-ins and provide feedback to Resident Assistants.
  • Assist in the training and onboarding of new and returning Resident Assistants.
  • Work collaboratively with the ADRL to support and develop the Resident Assistant team.

Safety and Security:

  • Interpret and enforce community and institution’s regulations and policies
  • Learn and implement building-wide emergency response procedures.
  • Complete and submit Incident Reports as well as, duty logs following each duty shift
  • Respond to situations needing attention
  • Observe residents who identify emotional, relationship, psychological, academic or social problems. Intervene appropriately or report as needed.
  • Support Resident Assistants in addressing behavioral issues and enforcing community standards.

Facility Management:

  • Assist with room condition assessments prior to Move-In and after Move-Out each semester.
  • Assist with the opening and closing of the buildings.
  • Report maintenance concerns within appropriate time
  • Complete other facility management responsibilities as assigned.

Administrative:

  • Dedicate 10 hours per week to scheduled office hours and 5 evening/weekend hours during the academic semester. This becomes 15 hours per week of scheduled office hours during the summer months.
  • Be available to residents during office hours for support, guidance, and conflict resolution
  • Maintain and update resident information, incident reports, and other administrative tasks.
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with residents, staff, and other relevant parties.
  • Participate in training and administrative tasks which occur prior to classes beginning and after classes end.
  • Always maintain confidentiality.
  • Participate in RA selection, Move-in/Move-out, RA Training, any Open Houses, Homecoming and other events as assigned.
  • Attend all in-services, meetings, and events as assigned. This will generally include weekly meeting with ADRL and weekly RA team meetings. 
  • Other duties and administrative assignments as assigned by the ADRL and Towers Office. 

On-Call Responsibility: 

  • Staff coverage/duty will be required during academic calendar break periods (holidays and extended time).
  • Participate in the on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies and concerns.
  • Be available and responsive to resident needs during designated on-call shifts.
