Associate Medical Director - Transfusion Medicine

Overview

Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin (Versiti WI) invites applications for a full-time clinical Associate Medical Director position. The successful candidate will join our expanding team of Clinical Transfusion Medicine (TM) physicians who oversee blood bank and apheresis coverage at our partner hospitals. Clinical responsibilities include transfusion medicine consultations, oversight of QC/QA activities, medical oversight of plasma exchange, red cell exchange, photopheresis, LDL apheresis and cellular collections. Teaching opportunities of medical students, residents, fellows, and SBB students are numerous and encouraged as well as opportunities for clinical research.

Versiti is an affiliation of blood centers in Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio, including the Versiti Blood Research Institute which is in the Milwaukee area. The latter is the largest blood focused research institute in the United States which houses over 30 basic, translational, and clinical researchers. The annual number of blood donors across Versiti is more than 500,000. 

 

Responsibilities for this position:

As part of the Versiti Wisconsin Clinical TM Team, this physician will support and assist in medical leadership and direction of the Transfusion Service at our partner hospitals in the Milwaukee area. This physician will provide patient care for therapeutic apheresis and cell therapy collections, consult with physicians concerning TM practice and problems, promote blood management and quality improvement projects.

Qualifications

Required Experience:

• M.D. or D.O. Degree
• Board certified in clinical pathology, internal medicine, or pediatrics
• Board certified/board eligible in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine
• Eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License
