Sr. Associate, DevOps Engineer

ROLE SUMMARY

The Enterprise Platforms & Security (EP&S) organization delivers the following capabilities for Pfizer: Business application platforms supporting Pfizer’s enterprise application and critical business processes. Infrastructure allowing business traffic to travel where it needs to go, internally and externally, along with the appropriate access controls. The Digital Hosting Solutions (DHS) team represents the Digital Center of Excellence (CoE) for cloud infrastructure capabilities, providing foundational public and private cloud services to all business lines, globally across Pfizer.  DHS is a high-performing team, focused on delivering secure, scalable, compliant, reliable, operationally viable, and cost-effective cloud solutions. We are seeking a talented Sr. Associate DevOps Engineer with a strong focus on Infrastructure Provisioning & Configuration Management, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and extensive experience working with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure) and legacy On-Premise vSphere based Virtual Machines (VMs) to join our globally distributed team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable and reliable cloud-based infrastructure and applications. You will play a critical role in driving strategic initiatives that will improve efficiency, scalability, and resilience in our cloud infrastructure.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Pfizer DevOps Engineers must operate with the highest levels of integrity, as colleagues within DHS are often entrusted with the highest levels of access to development and production environments. The ability to protect confidential information, identify risks, mitigate non-compliance, and operate within defined policies & procedures is a must. 

• Design, develop, and maintain code within Hybrid Cloud Management Platforms and IaC solutions using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, to manage and automate cloud infrastructure across multiple platforms (AWS, Azure, and vSphere).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement robust cloud architectures, ensuring optimal performance, security, reliability, and scalability.
• Create and maintain CI/CD Pipelines for frequent and compliant code releases.
• Implement and maintain Automated Testing for various testing scenarios to drive platform excellence.
• Create and iterate lifecycle of key integrations and APIs with infrastructure elements.
• Establish and enforce best practices for IaC, code reviews, documentation, & testing to ensure quality & maintainability.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies to continuously improve our cloud infrastructure and application development processes.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other team members, sharing knowledge and expertise on cloud infrastructure and IaC best practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in software development and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or vSphere, including the deployment and management of cloud resources using IaC.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as Python, Java, or Go.
• Demonstrated experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.) and DevOps methodologies (GitHub Actions, Selenium, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and strong business acumen.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner.
• Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Certifications in AWS, Azure, or vSphere, such as Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer, or Cloud Engineer.
• Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools and processes, such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
