What You’ll Do:

 

• Conduct standard biodegradation tests
• Sterile handling of samples and understanding of aseptic technique
• Quantification of pH value
• Measurement of ammonia, nitrogen, chemical oxygen demand (COD) dissolved oxygen (DO) in environmental samples
• Mix large batches of mineral media
• Assist current lab personnel to conduct enzyme studies to evaluate biodegradation
• Conduct benchtop wastewater treatment plant removal studies
• Equipment calibration and maintenance
• Lab upkeep, cleaning and stocking of supplies
• Report results in laboratory notebooks and maintain up to date documentation

 

What You’ll Need:

 

• BS in environmental science, environmental engineering, chemistry, microbiology, biology or closely related field
• Masters preferred
• 1-3 Years of Laboratory Testing Procedures
• In-depth knowledge of environmental science laboratory testing procedures
• Experience evaluating the environmental fate of materials
• Extensive chemical, biological or microbiology laboratory experience is preferred
• Familiar with laboratory extraction procedures
• Analytical experience with TOC, HPLC, and other standard analytical techniques
• Precise attention to detail
• Self-motivated and self-sufficient
• Exhibits good writing, communication, and time management skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and similar programs.
