The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.As a Systems Engineer on a hardworking team of specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will function as a Systems Architect within the Mission Systems Engineering, Integration & Test organization, working closely with other system, software, hardware and integration & test engineers to optimize the System Architecture baseline for unique Blue Ring Spacecraft missions and customer needs. This position reports to the Mission SEIT Requirements, Verification & Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Architecture Director for the space mobility product line. You will work at a spacecraft mission & system level with a focus on using modern MBSE and System Architecture standards and frameworks to capture Blue Ring architectural product line variants, including all critical spacecraft bus, ground system and payload requirements and interfaces, in a model-based environment in support of maturing the Blue Ring Digital Thread. This role will begin with a first-of-its-kind space vehicle in development and grow with the product line through multiple missions and objectives.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Collaborate with the Blue Ring Mission Lead Systems Engineers, Spacecraft Systems Engineering, Flight Software, Payload & Mission Integration, and Ground Systems Engineering Teams to define system architecture variants in a model-based environment across multiple customers and missions
- Analyze mission requirements for multiple mission types and ensure accurate flow-down and traceability to elements in the system architecture
- Support the derivation and allocation of requirements to lower levels of the system architecture in collaboration with respective development teams
- Deconflict competing requirements and support the development of concepts, candidate architectures, and optimized synthesis of requirements, architecture & design
- Generate MBSE artifacts such as space vehicle States and Modes definitions, Operational Constraints, activity diagrams, sequence diagrams, and behavior diagrams
- Perform as a subject matter expert on spacecraft and ground system capabilities and constraints to support the definition of multiple candidate architectures to meet evolving customer needs for a growing set of mission types with a product line of spacecraft in development

Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or equivalent technical field
- 5+ years of related experience in one or a combination of the following: system architecture definition / development, requirements engineering / requirements management, space or ground system and/or software design and interface definition
- Familiarity with, or experience in, Model-Based Systems Engineering, such as System Models and/or System Architecture diagrams
- Familiarity with spacecraft operations, command & control, and/or spacecraft communications uplink and downlink technologies
- Understanding of the Systems Engineering lifecycle and the “Systems Engineering V”
- Proven problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Active US Government Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) Clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Spacecraft command & control system experience
- Software or scripting language experience
- Experience with MBSE/System Modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Enterprise Architect, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
- Familiarity with System Architecture frameworks such as the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DODAF), Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), or NASA Space Mission Architecture Framework (SMAF)
- Spacecraft and ground-system internal and external interface familiarity
- Experience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through operational support)
- Familiarity with spacecraft initia
