Job Overview

The Accounting Manager is a critical role that will help lead the Technical Accounting team by providing technical accounting guidance and support over various topics. This role will lead business reviews over multiple business entities, including standardization of policies and procedures to drive consistency across the organization. The Accounting Manager will also work to integrate newly acquired entities to align with Komatsu policies and procedures. 

Key Job Responsibilities

•    Manage the relationship with newly acquired entities to ensure compliance with Komatsu policies, procedures and controls. 
•    Manage the review of business results over non-KNA / KMT entities including review of financial information, supporting reporting schedules, and controls reports. 
•    Oversee the balance sheet review procedures over global entities. 
•    Serve as a resource over technical accounting questions surrounding the harmonization of processes and transactions throughout the organization.
•    Proactively review new / revised US GAAP accounting pronouncements and understand the impact to the organization. Identify the impact to the financial statements and effectively communicate the change to the business. Develop new processes, controls, position papers, transaction flows, etc. as needed. 
•    Drive harmonization efforts through collaboration with business partners to identify process improvements and drive consistency in our accounting processes and controls. Work with the policy project team and standardize accounting policies across Komatsu America. 
•    Perform financial benchmarking to determine, document and implement best industry practices, including implementing lean practices, creating scorecards, etc. 
•    Manage, develop, and mentor the team.
•    Provide analysis and insight for other assignments and ad hoc projects as needed, including special projects, and other requests from senior management.
 

Qualifications/Requirements

•    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with 6-8+ years of accounting experience; CPA preferred.
•    Knowledge of US GAAP and self-motivated to independently study accounting concepts.
•    M&A experience a plus.
•    Experience overseeing and mentoring staff.  
•    Strong critical thinking and intuitive problem-solving skills. Attention to detail required. Continuous improvement mindset. 
•    Self-driven with proven ability to work independently and collaboratively with others with minimal oversight.
•    Prior experience with SAP a plus.
•    Strong communication skills to interact and engage with a wide range and level of stakeholders.
•    Must possess a high level of organization and planning skills to achieve success in handling many priorities / manage projects and leverage internal influence across multiple groups / teams.  
•    Some travel expected (less than 10% of time)
