POSITION SUMMARY:
Directors lead the PMO function and collaborate with divisional leadership to orchestrate the success of the portfolio. This position will be in the Clinical discipline focused on, 1. Shaping and Implementing the global clinical strategy/portfolio in alignment with our product and portfolio strategy and, 2. managing the people and process to execute clinical trials and projects. This includes partnering with both external (study investigators, KOLs, core labs, CROs etc.) and internal cross-divisional stakeholders to ensure the Clinical portfolio meets divisional goals. You will inspire and mentor your team of project/program managers, all dedicated to identifying and executing clinical research that drives generation of clinical evidence for regulatory submissions, podium presentations, and publications. Working with them, you will optimize timelines, as well as drive project and program cost efficiencies. As a people manager in the PMO, you will contribute to the standardization of the portfolio, program, and project management best practices and work with your peers to find opportunities to harmonize processes and systems across programs.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: What you will do:
Technical Responsibilities:
- Works with Divisional Leadership, KOLs, Marketing, Clinical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs and regional organizations to help shape and implement an overall integrated global clinical strategy/study portfolio for the entire NV business.
- Presents study proposals to Divisional Leadership after properly vetting with all internal stakeholders.
- Works with Divisional Leadership, Marketing, Clinical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs and regional organizations to move the needle in the areas of safety, efficacy, speed, efficiency, etc. leveraging the differentiating technical aspects of NV’s products.
- Manages the team of managers, project and program managers who will be accountable for study planning, execution and close out (end-to-end Clinical project management).
- Ensures strategic alliances with monitors, core laboratories, CROs, consultants, etc. as appropriate to ensure safe and successful clinical trial conduct.
- Meets with KOLs, study Principal Investigators and other key external constituents on a routine basis as deemed appropriate to gather information on clinical study performance, strategy, and voice of customer.
- Co-leads and manages Project Investment Board (PIB) governance board. Evaluate tradeoffs within division.
- Manage divisional clinical portfolio scope to meet divisional goals. Responsible for development of realistic clinical department budgets, schedules, and performance standards
- Manage and optimize the divisional Clinical portfolio timelines and processes
- Manage and optimize the divisional Clinical portfolio budget. Drive project and program cost efficiencies. Influence and vote on divisional Clinical portfolio spend decisions.
- Works with external committees such as Medical Advisory Boards, Steering Committees, Publication Committees, regarding trial related issues and opportunities.
- Ensures awareness and compliance with applicable standard operating procedures to meet, comply and champion all quality and regulatory commitments of Stryker.
- Continually assesses and enhances the consolidated risk profile for the business. Sets the tone for appropriate divisional project / program risk-taking.
- Develops PMO resourcing strategies to ensure optimal and efficient delivery of business objectives. Ensure deployment of competency development strategies for staff across the PMO.
- Advances Stakeholder strategies to ensure strong collaboration and strategic partnerships with leaders across the business.
- Ensures the implementation of a consolidated communications strategy. Deploys cross functional best practices for divisional communications management.
- Responsible for ensuring/coaching others in effective meeting management and group facilitation activities for programs/projects in scope of Clinical PMO
- Contributes to PMO department strategic planning activities to meet department goals.
- Develops other people managers to set strategy for their teams. Defines talent strategy in the department. Has successful working relationships with senior internal and external personnel in various departments across the division.
