Summary

We have crafted a new multifaceted leadership role, the Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for cultivating our core philosophy that if we CARE for each other internally, we can be at best to deliver excellent hospitality and CARE for our clients and guests.  A successful candidate partners with people leaders and influence them as they grow and manage their teams to keep Restaurant Associates as an employer of choice. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources/People Services. The role will require travel to R/A markets, including NY, DC, Boston, Chicago and Atlanta.  Most time is spent within units being a consultant to the business leaders. Specifically, the individual in role will provide direct support and guidance on various HR matters as well as take responsibility of the people services strategy that is in alignment with the business. Job Summary

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of our associates, our work and our culture. Utilize associate survey as needed to support leaders in building engagement strategies.   
  • Nurture client relationships and serve as an additional point of contact for people-related matters. Use VIPI client satisfaction data to support unit managers in action planning and follow-up.
  • In partnership with L&D, manage and facilitate relevant field training, including people leaders’ orientation. 
  • Participate in Operational Leadership meetings to drive strategic HR initiatives and increase HR visibility.
  • In partnership with the Recruiting Team, provide guidance and training on recruitment and hiring practices. Help to create staffing strategies, especially in situations of hard to hire or in response to an emerging need of the business.
  • Coach leaders in identifying High Potential Talent and Successors for Key positions and, support the creation of personalized development plans and performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Monitor compensation to ensure min, mid and max thresholds are applied and compensation approvals are met. Analyze wage and salary reports and data to determine competitive compensation plans.
  • Use people analytics to drive change and performance outcomes.
  • In partnership with RA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging Lead, coach people leaders in ensuring equitable experiences, strengthening inclusion, and promoting a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all associates.
  • Participate and encourage associate involvement in Diversity and Inclusion Action Council activities. 
  • Engage and educate the business in how to leverage community partnerships. 
  • Ensure compliance with Compass and RA policies as well as federal and state employment regulations, including: Fair Treatment, FMLA, FLSA, ADAA, and EEO; partnering with the Shared Services Teams, i.e. Benefits, Payroll, Leave and Absence as needed. 
  • Establish a culture of accountability through clear expectations and performance management. Partner with leadership and the HRSC for employee relations concerns and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of people related systems, including Employee Central and MyStaff. Escalate issues as needed for speedy resolution. 
  • Collaborate with the Labor Relations team for people related matters in union locations; understanding the CBA and coaching and training leadership on its compliance. 
  • Monitor turnover, identifying trends and developing strategies to retain associates.
