About the opportunity

We are seeking expressions of interest for gastroenterologists to join a new gastroenterology unit at Werribee Mercy hospital providing inpatient, outpatient and endoscopy services including a Haematemesis and Melaena on call/recall service.

The opportunity will include sessions for ward service (ward rounds 3 x per week) to manage gastroenterology inpatients and provide consultation and support to other services within the hospital as well as newly created endoscopy lists and some limited outpatient sessions.  

You will be joining a team of 6 gastroenterologists who currently provide gastroenterology outpatient and endoscopy services. Werribee Mercy is part of the Mercy health network and is an expanding health service in the rapidly growing south west of Melbourne. It is affiliated with Notre Dame University.

Requirements

  • Fellowship of Royal Australasian College of Physicians
  • Current AHPRA registration with general and Specialist registration.
  • Conjoint Committee Accreditation with GESA and participation in GESA Colonoscopy recertification program.
  • Excellent clinical skills and practice of evidence based medicine and patient centred care.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work well in and contribute to a team fostering supportive, collaborative relationships.
  • Able to enthusiastically commit to the new unit including with participation in unit clinical meetings, quality assurance activities, teaching and supervision of doctors in training and medical students, willingness to participate in clinical research and in the development and execution of innovative programs in delivery of care and clinical training.
  • Post fellowship subspecialty qualifications and/or training eg in interventional endoscopy or IBD would be desirable.
