Manager of Quality Engineering (Hands-On Role)

As the Manager of Quality Engineering, you will not only lead but actively participate in ensuring the quality of our products. With over half a million customers relying on our marketing platform for their small business needs, it's essential that our products operate seamlessly. We are looking for a player-coach - someone who can manage and mentor while also directly contributing to quality engineering within a scrum team. This role will be split between hands-on work (60%) and managerial responsibilities (40%). You'll focus on ensuring quality in our billing and payments systems.

What You’ll Do:

• Act as an expert user of our product to identify defects and gaps in functionality that could impact our customers' experience
• Lead by example, developing and implementing test automation in close collaboration with your scrum team
• Devise and execute strategies for load, performance, and functional testing
• Participate in hands-on testing, ensuring high product standards while coaching your team to do the same
• Utilize data and analytics to assess and communicate the state of product quality
• Manage, mentor, and support a team of Quality Engineers embedded within adjacent scrum teams, ensuring their professional growth and alignment with best practices

Who You Are:

• 6+ years of test automation experience, with 2+ years in a quality leadership role, ideally in a SaaS company
• Proficient with Playwright or similar test automation frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Protractor)
• Proficient with relational databases, and creating automation in Java
• Exposure to Git in a CI/CD environment
• Experience with billing and payment processor integrations (e.g., Stripe) is a plus

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education and work location. In addition, some roles may be eligible for additional on target commission pay or bonus. The compensation package includes health and welfare benefits including paid leave.
