Details of Research Project:
We seek a Postdoctoral Research Fellow who will be working on a novel clinical trial at the Charles Lazarus Children’s Abilities Center at Mount Sinai in New York. The candidate may work in a hybrid fashion if needed, with elements of in-person and remote possible for this position, but an ability to attend in-person is required. We will be investigating the impact of implanted neurostimulation technologies paired with intensive neurorehabilitation on restoration of lower and upper extremity function in children (13-21 years old) with cerebral palsy and spinal cord injury. A large amount of longitudinal clinical data is being collected on participants in REDCap and detailed kinematic and kinetic data will be collected using a Vicon markered motion capture system. Familiarity with marker-based motion capture systems is a positive.
Technical Duties:
- Use of marker-based motion capture system to collect kinematic and kinetic energy
- Ability to perform functional outcome measures of upper and lower extremity function
- Supervision and delivery of motor rehabilitation
Educational and other Requirements for the position: PhD AND PT or OT clinical degree
Experience Required: Clinical neurorehabilitation experience, experience with motion capture technology
Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project:
- Implantation of >5 patients with cerebral palsy with a vagus nerve stimulator over five years
- Implantation of >5 patients with spinal cord injury with an epidural spinal stimulator over five years
- Collection of longitudinal motion capture and functional outcomes in response to neurostimulation treatment
Compensation Statement
The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $74,692.00 - $80,000.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
