JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management (RPTM) within the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar beginning in Fall 2025. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Dr. Lauren Duffy, Professor and Head of RPTM, contributing to research projects related to tourism, leisure, and other related contexts, with particular focus on research that connects to the mission of the College to improve human health, development, and the quality of life. This position is intended to provide mutual support for the development of the Postdoctoral Scholar and their research program with opportunities for grant-writing and co-authorship of research articles, while also supporting the Department Head’s research program on various projects.

The Postdoctoral Scholar will be involved with the following tasks:

• Identifying and submitting external grant proposals.
• Designing and conducting empirical research.
• Collecting and analyzing data (both qualitative and quantitative)
• Preparing manuscripts and presenting research at local and national scientific conferences.
• Managing research projects (task management and timelines).
