Our Manassas, Virginia site is a part of the Consumer Health division and provides expanded capabilities in soft chews and lozenges. With extensive development and manufacturing expertise and a wide range of flavors, ingredients, and colors available, we can work with complex formulations to help create engaging new products consumers will love.
The QA Supervisor will lead Food Safety and Quality programs. This includes implementation and on-going program management/oversight on Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Certification, and its initiatives. The QA Supervisor also requires Quality Control data base management and control over product specifications. The SQF process is broad in scope and requires interaction with most departments, the SQF consultant and the auditor. This position is 100% based on-site in Manassas, VA.
The Role
Coordinate and oversee the SQF Certification process
Develop, maintain, validate and help revise annually the HACCP Plan, SQF Code, Gimbal’s SOP and other Quality Program
Ongoing Food Safety and Quality Program management – Ensure the SQF/HACCP/QUALITY/SOP programs are being respected in all divisions
Manage the HACCP system and ensure HACCP programs are effective
Initiate Food Safety and Quality training as needed
Manage internal and third party audits to maintain highest standard of Food Safety, Food Quality, and Food Security;
Initiate internal food safety and quality audits. Participate in customer, 3rd party and regulatory audits. Ensure compliance to the food safety and quality management system throughout the facility.
Develop, implement, and continuous improvement of food safety and quality programs.
Manage corrective action program and ensure follow up by stakeholders. Conduct verification activities to ensure corrective actions were implemented effectively to prevent reoccurrences. Maintain food safety scorecard metrics and report trends to stakeholder. Manage incident reports to track deviations and ensure appropriate follow-up and corrective actions.
Conduct Deviation investigations, support implementation of CAPAs, Change Controls.

The Candidate
Food Science/Food Technology College degree preferred
HS Diploma or GED required
Prior experience in food processing, within a manufacturing environment under HACCP, and SQF/GFSI required
Demonstrated leadership in the areas of food safety and plant regulatory affairs
Strong organizations and leadership skills; ability to analyze processes for Biological, Chemical and Physical hazards with a thorough understanding of the science and support behind each type of hazard and each step of a production process
Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office Programs
Demonstrable leadership experience at Catalent (including but not limited to participation in Catalent-sponsored leadership programs such as NGGL, GOLD, LEAD Now, GM Excellence, and GROW) may be considered in place of external experience.
The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear.
The employee is required to sit, climb or balance and taste or smell.
