About the role
Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant II/III, Well Being Centers Float with excellent communication and customer service skills to work in our High School Well Being Centers. Intermediate level position responsible for all supporting functions in the delivery of reproductive health care, primary care and surgical services. Assist patients by providing testing, screening, education/counseling and assisting patients in both pre- and post-surgical procedure which is required for the provision of medical reproductive health care. Works alongside Providers to ensure high quality, efficient delivery of care. Ability to triage patients, prepare exam rooms and assist the Providers before, during, and after all medical procedures. Provide non-judgmental, empathetic care for patients.

Our Ideal Candidate will have the following qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in reproductive health and/or primary/managed care
- Medical Assistant diploma/certification required
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required or willingness to obtain within 30 days of employment
- Knowledge of surgical services
- Reproductive, managed/primary health care and/or abortion services experience desirable
- Must be able to meet Los Angeles County background check requirements via Live Scan fingerprint clearance
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings as needed
- Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout Los Angeles Unified School District and Los Angeles County
About the position:
- Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations and by all PPLA employees, and supporting these critical services is an essential job duty and fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.

- Ensure to maintain communication with the various departments within LAUSD and DPH
- Engage in communication with third party vendors regarding supplies and other items

- Work closely in conjunction with the Well Being Center Supervisor and/or Center Manager
- Perform all Medical Assistant duties as needed per the applicable Medical Assistant job description
- Assume the role of Administrator in the absence of Supervisor/Center Manager
- Assure health center’s compliance with Agency, state, and federal regulations by monitoring protocol compliance and service delivery
- Participate in the coordination and training of staff on front and back office duties, including but not limited to: Pre-registration, Pre-admission, Insurance verification, Pre-certification, Collections of co-pays and deductibles, Billing, Patient intake, Patient procedures, Emergency procedures, Lab Duties, Infection control
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws in the absence of the Center Supervisor. Responsibilities include training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, and effectively managing health center flow
- Responsible for ensuring that health center is in compliance with established performance metrics, including but not limited to dashboard metrics
- Collaborate with Well Being Centers staff and Supervisor to maintain effective communication on work flow, new initiatives, campaign letters, incident reports and others as assigned
- Complete Affiliates Risk Management Services (ARMS) report(s) in a timely manner
- Complete Waste Management Tracker Report
- Assist in implementing additional services and training of staff as required
